Why I Love Arnica

Arnica montana. There are some must-have homeopathic remedies. Arnica montana is one of them. I’m speaking from personal experiences. I am not a homeopath so please do consult one, especially for constitution work.

What is Arnica montana?

Mountain arnica has beautiful bright yellow flowers that bloom in the summer. Another name is mountain daisy as the flower looks like a daisy. The flower and root are traditionally used for bruises, sprains, muscle stiffness, and arthritic pain.

Arnica Montana – Homeopathic Remdy

Homeopathy is like cures like so choosing the remedy that matches your symptoms is so important. There are some remedies that can address many symptoms. There are also some remedies that are called for in acute situations such as accidents and injuries.

While most people likely know arnica montana for injuries, it addresses many other imbalances. So yes, for physical trauma, arnica montana is great as the first or one of the first remedies, especially if the person prefers to be alone and feels what they are experiencing is too much. On the emotional level, this person may also not avoid contact because physically, they don’t feel great.

My most recent discovery about Arnica Montana

Arnica montana is one of the remedies I always on hand. It is so popular that they also come in packs. It was one of the first homeopathic remedies I took recently. (Also aconite is a good one for shock and frightening situations. I was already taking Rescue Remedy, actually Five Flowers from FES. Crystal Herb also makes one following Dr Bach’s formula called Revival Remedy).

What I learned is that it helps minimize bone swelling. I already knew about how it helps muscle swelling. So this was helpful new information.

If you’re interested in homeopathy, here’s a book list to investigate yourself. You can also check What Therapy’s bookshop /book list. As What Therapy is independent and reader-supported, your purchases from our affiliate links is much appreciated. We’ve also migrated to Bookshop from Amazon. Bookshop supports local bookstores. (Let us know if we’ve missed some links. Also note that not all links on What Therapy are affiliate or referral links.)

You can also get kits, like this starter kit from Helios, a great UK homeopathy company. It is currently on sale. If you’re in the US, it’s free shipping. The starter kit comes with eighteen remedies, a guide for first aid, and Mary Aspinwall’s newbie course. She’s the one who designed these kids in the 1990s.

The eighteen remedies are – aconite, apis, arnica, arsenicum, belladonna, bryonia, cantharis, chamomilla, gelsemium, hepericum, ignatia, ledum, merc viv, nux vomica, pulsatilla, rhus tox, ruta, and silica. They address shock, stings, bruises, sprains, strains, food poisoning, fever, colds, burns, bites, teething, colic, cuts, etc.

My first kit was a travel kit from Helios. Kits are a fantastic way to have everything you need in one box. You don’t have to replenish the containers with the same brand, though I do like Helios.

Since I started arnica montana, I have added to the mix ruta and rhus tox. I’ve been doing a paper dose with this combo as I don’t have ruta (which is included in the starter kit). To do a paper remedy, write the name and potency of the remedy on a piece of blank paper. Fill a glass with clean water and place it on the paper for 15-20 minutes. Then tap the glass against your palm and take a sip. You can also do this with a glass bottle and pour it out into a glass. I am using a mason jar.
